Archaeome in Colorectal Cancer: High Abundance of Methanogenic Archaea in Colorectal Cancer Patients

چکیده

Background: The importance of microbiome in the progression and development colorectal cancer (CRC) has been discussed last decade. Like colon bacteria, other intestinal microorganisms, including archaea, could also be involved CRC progression, so it's important to work out archaeal (archaeome) composition among patients. Objectives: aim this study was determine archaeome healthy controls based on age gender. Methods: Total bacterial DNA extracted from 30 biopsy samples (17 13 controls). Archaeome communities were profiled by 16S rRNA high throughput sequencing, then compared clinicopathological features, patients’ gender age. Results: In patients, methanogens Methanobrevibacter (86%) Methanomassiliicoccus (8%) overrepresented at genus level. contrast controls, only two genera haloarchaea Natronococcus (58%) Haloterrigena (42%) presented. results showed that number men is higher than women both controls. moreover, our most archaea are present CRC-32-50 group, six genera. differential abundance taxa analysis significant differences between patients (P ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: suggests may development.

Role of Molecular Biomarkers in Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is amongst the most widespread cancers and is a most common cause of cancer associated mortality universally. Since previous decades, it has been cleared that CRC develops owing to the buildup of a series of genetic and epigenetic changes in the normal colonic epithelium. Regardless of the current development in surgery and therapies, overall survival of end stage CRC pa...

Epigenetics in diagnosis of colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a third most common epithelial carcinoma. CRC is known to develop from the early precancerous lesion to full blown malignancy via definite phases due to cumulative mutations and aberrant methylation of number of genes. The use of serum biomarkers that is non-invasive to discriminate cancer patients from healthy persons will prove to be an important tool to improve the...

Mucinous and Non-Mucinous Adenocarcinoma in Colorectal Cancer Patients

Background: The oncologic behavior of mucinous adenocarcinoma (MA) of colorectal differs from non-mucinous adenocarcinoma (NMA). MA is more advanced at diagnosis and has a poorer prognosis than NMA. We aimed to evaluate prognostic factors and survival rate in patients with MA compared with NMA in Western Iran. Methods: During 2008-2015 in a retrospective study, 83 patients with CRC referred to...

Overexpression of cancer stem cell marker Lgr5 in colorectal cancer patients and association with pathologic findings

Background: To determine the expression of cancer stem cell marker Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5) in colorectal carcinoma samples compared to normal adjacent tissue and any possible association with clinicopathological findings. Methods: This study was performed on forty samples of cancerous colorectal tissues (case group) and their adjacent normal mucosa (c...

Regulatory T Cells in Colorectal Cancer

One of the essential protection mechanisms of immune system is Treg cells which play an important role in maintenance ofimmune homeostasis. However, they may also inhibit immune functions against tumor cells. It has been reported that Treg cellsare increased in patients suffering from different types of cancer. Increased number of Treg cells has been shown in tumor lymphnodes, peripheral blood,...
